Veteran pleads guilty to misdemeanor in VA hospital threat
An Army veteran who made threats of shooting up the VA Hospital in Fayetteville and Fort Bragg will learn his fate on Thursday.

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- An Army veteran who made threats of shooting up the VA Hospital in Fayetteville and Fort Bragg will learn his fate on Thursday.

Ryan Broderick appeared in federal court in Raleigh Monday morning and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge.

Broderick called the VA benefits hotline in January and told a counselor if he didn't get the help he needed he would get a gun and start shooting.

Broderick could receive anything from one year probation to one year in prison.

He suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder after serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
