Video shows mail carrier tossing packages
Paylor showed ABC11 video from her home security system that shows the mail carrier tossing packages up the steps and walking away

DURHAM (WTVD) -- Like many us, Krystal Paylor is getting a lot of deliveries this week. The Christmas gifts for her son have been too big for the mailbox so the mail carrier had to bring them to the door.

But instead of placing them at the door, Paylor showed ABC11 video from her home security system that shows the mail carrier tossing packages up the steps and walking away. It happened two days in a row.

"And she walks up again, bigger box this time, [and] she stands in front of the porch and she hurls it," said Paylor.

After two days in a row, Paylor had seen enough. She said the woman in the video is not her regular mail carrier.

"She's not our normal person because our normal person wouldn't do that," said Paylor.

The woman is a substitute.

"I thought that's inappropriate and something needs to be done about it because that's my hard-earned money being delivered. That's my son's Christmas presents," Paylor offered.

On neither day did anything inside the boxes break. They weren't fragile. But Paylor said that's not the point. It's about respect, and she wants the U.S. Postal Service to take action.

"I would hope that they don't condone something like that because it's inappropriate. If they were their belongings, something they paid for, they wouldn't want them to be tossed like that," said Paylor.

In a statement to ABC11, USPS said:

"A mishandled package is unacceptable and does not reflect the careful efforts of the thousands of professional, dedicated carriers and clerks in our workforce. The Postal Service takes the customer's complaint very seriously and we will conduct a thorough investigation. We apologize to the customer and will address this incident with the employee."
