Faith Tatro, 16, witnessed a cop being dragged as a car pulled away, only to realize it was her dad

GULF BREEZE, Fla. -- All five of Sergeant Kerstan Tatro's children are glad he's OK after he was dragged by a car during a traffic stop gone wrong last week.

His 16-year-old daughter Faith, though, is especially thankful.

Faith witnessed the scene from a stoplight, not realizing from a distance that it was her dad. The cop had pulled over an erratic driver who was going 30 miles over the speed limit. When he asked her to step out of the car to test her sobriety, the driver slammed on the gas and drove off. Tatro, who had his arm in the car, was dragged behind it momentarily.

Faith was among a group of Good Samaritans who stopped to help the fallen cop. As she got out of her car, she realized it was her father.

"Dad are you okay?" she can be heard screaming.

Tatro spent three days in the hospital before returning home. The driver, who was under the influence of narcotics, has been identified and charged with aggravated battery, fleeing the scene and driving under the influence.

Tatro said he'd like to get back on the job as soon as possible. As for his daughter, Faith said this experience has only taught her how important her dad's job is.

"I know what he does is for a good reason," she told ABC News. "I just hope everybody else has a better respect for him."
