WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WTVD) -- Wake Forest police are asking for the public's help finding the person responsible for an early morning stabbing.

Around 4:30 a.m. Saturday, police responded to Cruizers along Capital Boulevard in Wake Forest.

When they got there, officers found one victim, the convenience store clerk.

Joshua Ray Lane was transported to WakeMed in critical condition.

His current condition was not immediately available.

Police say the suspect -- who fled on foot -- is a Hispanic or light-skinned Black male, last seen wearing a gray hoodie, striped shirt, black pants and white shoes.

The man seen in surveillance photos wearing a black coat was considered a person of interest, but authorities interviewed him and have determined he was not involved in the incident.

A motive for the stabbing is unclear and the investigation is ongoing.

Cruizers is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual or individuals responsible for Lane's stabbing.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police department at (919) 554-6150.
