WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WTVD) -- Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman has ruled the police shooting of a man in Wake Forest August 21 was justified.
In a letter to the SBI, Freeman said she had reviewed the agency's probe of the incident and is satisfied that deadly force was warranted.
Police went to a domestic disturbance call in the 1100 block of Chamberwell Avenue when investigators say 38-year-old Alan Joseph Rushton barricaded himself in a bathroom.
After trying to talk him out for two hours, Rushton advanced on officers with two large knives, hitting one of them in the helmet before an officer opened fire.
Rushton was taken to WakeMed where he died.
