Wayne County authorities hunting for murder suspect

WAYNE COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is actively searching for murder suspect Omar Acuna.

Around 1 p.m. Saturday, deputies found a man shot to death in the backyard of a house on Zion Church Road in Mount Olive. Wayne County authorities identified the victim as 47-year-old David Vasquez.

Detectives investigating the case identified the shooting suspect as Omar Guajardo Acuna AKA Omar Ocuna (or Acuna) Fajardo. Acuna also goes by the name "Twin."

Acuna, 32, is described as a Hispanic male, standing 5 foot 6 inches tall and weighing 250 pounds. Authorities said Acuna is confined to a wheelchair.

Acuna was last seen driving a low-rider Chevrolet truck that's two-tone, burgundy and cream, with large chrome rims.

Deputies said Acuna should be considered armed and dangerous. If the public thinks they have information on his whereabouts, do not try to take action on your own. Please contact law enforcement or 911.
