Durham City Council votes down Publix rezoning proposal late Monday night

DURHAM, North Carolina (WTVD) -- The Durham City Council has voted down a proposal to bring a Publix grocery store to the Bull City.

Developers wanted to build the Publix at the intersection of Guess and Latta roads.

The 30-acre spot of land is in a residential area.

Neighbors expressed concern about traffic and noise during a city council meeting Monday evening.

In the end, the city council sided with residents, voting against the project, 6-to-1.
