State lawmakers could ban new powdered alcohol

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- State lawmakers could ban that new controversial powdered alcohol called 'palcohol.'

The U.S. Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau approved the sale of the product this month.

Lawmakers have introduced a bill that would make it illegal to sell, consume, or manufacture it in North Carolina.

Several other states are also considering banning it.

Many worry that the powder could be snorted, mixed with another drink to make it even stronger, or could be easily accessible to minors.
