ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (WTVD) -- A pedestrian taking pictures was rushed to the hospital after being hit by a train in Rocky Mount, according to a CSX official.

It happened around 8:15 p.m. on Friday at the West Gold Leaf Street crossing.

CSX representatives and local authorities responded.

No word on the pedestrian's condition.

The train resumed operations by 9:30 p.m.

CSX officials urge the public to stay away from railroad tracks and said that trains move much faster than they appear and can often not be heard approaching.
