Family of autistic girl needs your help looking for lost companion dog in Raleigh

RALEIGH, North Carolina (WTVD) -- The family of an autistic girl is asking for the public's help to find her missing companion dog.

The dog, named Lexi, is "a two-year-old Bichon/Shih Tzu (teddy bear) mix.," according to the girl's aunt, Tracy Glover. "She is all white with a secondary coat of black."

Glover said the family is from New Jersey but is visiting family in Raleigh. She tells ABC11, the dog jumped out of their car on Saturday when they parked at The Village on Hill Street apartment complex in Raleigh.

Glover contacted ABC11 via email asking for help and said:

"The next day, my dog was seen again in the same apartment complex. I am requesting assistance for the community at The Hill Street Park, The Village on Hill Street apartment complex and surrounding homes to be on the lookout for my dog. She may not come to you unless you offer food. My dog belongs to a very loving family and is a companion to an autistic young girl. I reside in Lawnside New Jersey. We are asking your assistance in locating our family dog.
