Dog returns for Christmas after missing for 6 years

LAS VEGAS, NV (WTVD) -- A dog who went missing six years ago returned home just in time for Christmas.

A couple from Las Vegas was vacationing in Northern Nevada at the time when "Willie" the dog ran off.

The couple tried desperately to track him down without success.

Six years later, a phone call gave the family a Christmas miracle they did not expect.

Willie was found nearly 300 miles from home.

It turns out another family had found Willie and took him in.

But six years later he ran off again.

This time an animal shelter picked him up and they were able to identify him through his microchip, returning him to his original owners.

The family says they're just grateful Willie is home and healthy after all these years.
