Chase ends in fiery Wake County crash

ZEBULON, N.C. (WTVD) -- A chase that began in Franklin County ended early Monday morning in a fiery crash near Zebulon.

Deputies say around 12:45 a.m., the suspect apparently lost control of his SUV and hit trees head-on while trying to get from from US Hwy 64 to Hwy 264 westbound.

The vehicle burst into flames after the impact, but the man driving was able to get out of the SUV before it was destroyed.

There was no immediate word on his injuries or how the chase began. He was taken into custody by Franklin County deputies.
