RALEIGH (WTVD) -- North Carolina DOT Secretary Tony Tata is doing his best to put the brakes on his political future.
In an email to DOT staff members, the retired brigadier general said he was "humbled" to be asked to run for office. However, he wrote that he is committed to serving the citizens of North Carolina.
Tata never directly said he is not running for office.
Instead, he said since taking office the DOT has accomplished a lot, but there is a lot more to do.
Tata's name had been in the mix as a possible challenger to Congressman Walter Jones.
