Raleigh police make arrest in weekend murder

RALEIGH, North Carolina (WTVD) -- The Raleigh Police Department has made an arrest in a weekend murder.

Raleigh police said 20-year-old Lazarus Gary Hohn was found with a gunshot wound in the 6400 block of New Market Way just before 2 a.m. Sunday.

Hohn was taken to WakeMed but died from his injury.

Now, police have charged 22-year-old Ausban Monroe with murder.

"There was an altercation on a grand scale," said Jane, a neighbor.

She lives just feet from where it all played out.

She said that a group of young adults started to gather at around 11:30 p.m. At first there was loud music, loud talking, and then came the gunshots.

"Girls were screaming, men were screaming 'don't do it, don't do it' and then there was a shot," said the neighbor.

Raleigh police are investigating after finding a 20-year-old man dead from a gun shot injury.
