Gas station robbed in Clayton
Police had crime scene tape up around the building

CLAYTON, North Carolina -- The Clayton Police Department is looking for three men who robbed a convenience store Monday morning.

It happened around 1:45 a.m. at the Handy Hugo's on US-70 at Shotwell Road.

Investigators said three men walked in, one with a handgun, and demanded money from the night shift clerk. No customers were in the store and the employee wasn't hurt.

The robbers went behind the counter and took money, cigarettes, and cigars. They ran out toward the dirt parking lot behind the gas station and the Bojangle's next door.

They jumped into a white, older model Ford Explorer and headed down Shotwell.
