Moped and police car collide in Durham
Scooter driver rushed to hospital with serious injuries.

DURHAM (WTVD) -- The driver of a moped was seriously hurt in a collision with a Durham police car early Wednesday.



It happened at the intersection of West Club Boulevard and Gregson Street around 2 a.m.



Police said Ericko Scoggins had the green light, but the police officer was on his way to a call with his blue lights and siren on.



Pictures from the scene showed the scooter was destroyed and the police cruiser damaged.



The officer driving the cruiser was not hurt.



No charges have been filed but the accident remains under investigation.



The accident will be reviewed by the Police Department's Professional Standards Division, which is standard procedure for any accident involving a police vehicle.
