CAMERON, N.C. (WTVD) -- A high school teacher had an inappropriate sexual relationship with a student, according to Moore County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies arrested Jilian Lee Reynolds, 41, on June 17. That arrest came just under a month after deputies were told that a teacher at Union Pines High School had committed sexual crimes at the expense of a student.

Reynolds resigned from her teaching position May 23, three days after deputies started their investigation after they said they were tipped off about possible inappropriate conduct.

Reynolds is charged with one count of felony indecent liberties with a student and one count of felony sex act with a student.

Reynolds was a special-education teacher.

Parents were shaken by news of the arrest.

"You get concerned that your child is exposed to something that could be horrible," said one parent, who spoke to ABC11.

Investigators said the sex acts took place off campus.

Reynolds is being held at the Moore County Detention Center on $150,000 bond.

Barb DiBurro said more parents need to be aware and involved.

"All you can do is talk to your kids, just keep that relationship and that the communication path open and keep talking," she said.

Reynolds will appear before a judge next Thursday.
