Fayetteville police investigate sexual assault

FAYETTEVILLE (WTVD) -- Fayetteville police are investigating after a woman was attacked and threatened at gunpoint.

It happened around midnight Friday near downtown Fayetteville.

Police said a man in a tan or bronze sedan gave a woman ride then drove the victim to an area off Old Wilmington Road where he sexually assaulted her. He then ordered the woman out of the car at gunpoint and took off.

The victim was able to call 911 from a nearby home.
