Shelter hoping dogs 'get lucky'
The SPCA is getting creative to find pit bulls new homes

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- The SPCA of Wake County is getting creative as it tries to find pit bull dogs new homes.

Until the end of March, it's highlighting a "Lucky 7" pits it hopes will "strike it rich with the love of a new family."

Through the end of the month, the SPCA is reducing the adoption fees of the featured "Lucky 7" pit bulls to $17.00 in honor of Saint Patrick's Day on March 17.

"For one reason or another these fantastic dogs are being over looked," said Darci VanderSlik, spokesperson for the SPCA.

"The $17 actually includes the spay and neuter surgery, it includes their microchip, their vaccine, their wellness exam, everything is included in that $17. So what is actually a $300 value that you're getting at a really good discount over 80% off" she explained.

People can meet the dogs at the SPCA Pet Adoption Center at 200 Petfinder Drive (off Tryon Road and U.S. Highway 70) in Raleigh.
