The shootings happened around 1 p.m. in the 100 block of Harris Road. The Franklin County Sheriff's Office said when they arrived at the scene they found Keisha Livingston, 36, and Shamare Malik Harris, 18, dead from gunshot wounds.

Diana Marie Edgerton, 23, was taken to WakeMed and died from her injuries on arrival, authorities say.

Edgerton and Harris were visiting Livingston who lived in the house with her daughter. Harris was from LaGrange, N.C.

"The dad had come and got the little girl to take her to a Walmart. And that's the only reason she wasn't in the house," said Dinah Williams, Livingston's aunt. "If she had been there she probably would have been dead too."

Williams and her other family members said they believe a robbery may have been the motive because Livingston had just gotten her income tax return. The Franklin County Sheriff's Office has not confirmed this.

Authorities say one person was left in the house unharmed, and family members say that person survived by pretending to be dead.

Sheriff Kent Winstead says the crime has rocked the county.

"A triple homicide is just devastating to the community and to the families," he said. "I just can't imagine and my blessings out to them. We're going to do everything we can to bring this person to justice."
