Girl writes thank you cards to hundreds of officers
The killing of two New York police officers last month inspired a 10-year-old girl to write thank you cards to hundreds of officers.

The killings of two New York police officers last month inspired a Texas girl to go on a special mission.

Savannah Solis, 10, spent her Christmas break writing hundreds of thank you cards to police in New York and across Texas.

This weekend, she delivered some of her messages to officers in Austin. Her message is simple and straight from the heart:

"You're my heroes. I want to say, don't stop, please don't give up. Many do not care or appreciate the sacrifices that you make every day, but I do. Many are standing with me today to let you know that you matter. Officers across Texas, you matter to me. Officers in New York City, you matter to me. Officers all across America, you matter to me," she said. "Please keep taking care of us."

Grateful officers fought back the tears.

"She knows the right thing to say and I don't think she even realizes the impact of her words to these officers and this department," Texas Assistant Chief Jessica Robledo said.

Savannah has wanted to be a cop since she was a little girl.
