DURHAM (WTVD) -- ABC11 together joined the Durham family that lost everything in a house fire on Saturday at the Family Fun Day fundraiser.
The fundraiser took place at Bethesda Elementary School on South Miami Boulevard.
They were raising money to help the Tomlinson family get back on their feet. Kaysha Tomlinson and her four children survived the fire that tore through their Durham home in late January.
The blaze took the life of the family dog, though, and their home was destroyed.
Eyewitness news viewer Sharonette Smart saw the Tomlinson's story and helped organize the fundraiser.
"I got in touch with her, connected, and I just called on business in the community and this is the result! Everybody came out!" said Smart.
After our story aired, people from across the country donated to the Tomlinson's. It was also said that the local ASPCA is donating a new dog to the family.
