City of Oaks Pirate Fest starts with a bang

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A large crowd gathered at Dix Park Saturday for the second annual City of Oaks Pirate Fest.

The Pirate Fest started with a bang! - as in a live cannon firing.

The festival went back in time with historians dressed up as pirates doing some sword fighting. There was an interactive pirate ship with tennis balls serving as cannonballs.

Organizers expect the festival to keep growing.
