DURHAM (WTVD) -- A retired NBA player came to the Triangle to help kids in his old neighborhood.

Rodney Rogers stayed busy handing out book bags and school supplies at McDougald Terrace Park in Durham on Saturday.

The kids also enjoyed music and free food during the event.

Rogers grew up right across the street from the park. He went to Hillside High School before playing college basketball at Wake Forest.

Rogers was picked in the first round of the 1993 NBA Draft.
