Fundraiser for Matthew victims in downtown Raleigh

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Fayetteville Street in downtown Raleigh will shut down Sunday November 13 and become a giant dinner party to raise money for Hurricane Matthew victims.

Harris Vaughan and Joyce Kohn are behind the fundraiser called The Sunday Supper: Fight the Floods with a Fork. They're both from Eastern North Carolina, and after seeing all the video and hearing the stories of people devastated by flooding, Kohn called Vaughan.

"We've got to get together and planned a sit-down dinner down Fayetteville Street and invited 1,000 of our closest friends to come and join us. A communal dinner, so every member of the community coming together and in this opportunity to raise money for flood relief," they explained.

All the food, tables, chairs, and drinks will be donated. You just need a $20 ticket. And all the money will go to NC's Disaster Relief Fund. Right now, they are calling every business and social contact, getting food and services donated. They'll serve BBQ, oysters, and all the Southern fixins.
