RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Wake County is counting down to a big milestone -- a population of one million people.

Monday, the Wake County Board of Commissioners unveiled a population counter that goes up as more people move into the county.

At its unveiling, that number stood just above 999,750 people.

Estimates are that the one millionth person to move into, or be born in Wake County will happen this Friday.
