One woman is tackling bullies and breaking stereotypes by changing perceptions of what it means to be beautiful.

Harnaam Kaur has been living with a beard since she was 11-years-old.

And while people made fun of her, with razor sharp words that hurt, she's not only risen above it - she's making history.

Kaur is officially the world's first female, bearded model.

She says the hair is caused by hormonal imbalances brought on by polycystic ovarian syndrome, or PCOS.

She's been at forefront of body acceptance. A jewelry designer noticed her, and asked her to model in her fashion show.

"I always wanted to be like the pretty models...I grew up being told that I was fat, ugly, and disgusting to even model. I was told I'd never walk the runway," she wrote in an Instagram post.

She says her goal is teach the world a different kind of beauty.

Her message: "Surround yourself with awesome, inspirational people. People who are negative will only drown us."
