World Down Syndrome Day celebrated at the Governor's mansion

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Saturday is World Down Syndrome Day, and it was even commemorated at the Governor's mansion.

Gov. Pat McCrory lit the mansion blue Saturday evening for Down Syndrome Awareness.

World Down Syndrome Day is recognized on March 21 for the third copy of the 21st chromosome, which defines the genetic condition.

The executive mansion will remain blue until midnight.
