KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Chiefs linebacker Derrick Johnson ruptured his Achilles tendon Sunday against the Tennessee Titans, the team announced following Sunday's season-opening 26-10 loss.

Johnson crumpled to the ground without any apparent contact and had a grim look on his face as he left the field in a motorized cart.

He was replaced in the lineup by James-Michael Johnson, who was claimed off waivers last year.

Johnson played in the Pro Bowl in each of the last three seasons.

Kansas City also announced that starting defensive tackle Mike DeVito also ruptured his Achilles tendon.
