DURHAM (WTVD) -- On Sunday, TreeStuff.com hosted its first ever team head-to-head tree climbing championship at Duke Park.

Two teams competed in a capture the flag style competition. They had nine minutes to climb the tree and hide tokens and then switched sides with the other team and had nine minutes to find as many tokens as possible.

Athletes hope the sport will encourage people to be more aware of how they treat trees.
