American basketball fans have a lot to cheer about these days.

USA Basketball is the favorite to bring back gold in men's and women's basketball at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.

It all starts with the head coaches, Mike Krzyzewski and Geno Auriemma. These men have proved themselves at every level, including international basketball. They know how to get the most from their talent, and their systems and concepts on the court have proved successful.

I know some people will look at the men's squad and say, "No LeBron James, no Steph Curry -- this team isn't as good as the USA usually sends." But I feel this team has plenty of talent, and under Coach K, they will be totally prepared for anything in this event.

Players like Paul George, DeMarcus Cousins and others will mesh with Kevin Durant and Carmelo Anthony to excel.

Auriemma also has an incredibly balanced and talented squad. On any given night, one of several players can lead the team in scoring. This group will play as a cohesive unit.

There is so much talent, whether it's Brittney Griner, Tamika Catchings, Breanna Stewart, Diana Taurasi, Elena Della Donne or Tina Charles. The list goes on and on.

College basketball has an impact on these Olympic teams. Besides Coach K, Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim is instrumental as an assistant. The women's team has DePaul coach Doug Bruno and South Carolina coach Dawn Staley on its staff.

I would really be shocked if either the USA men's or women's team fell short Rio. The competition throughout the world has gotten better and better, so this may not be a cakewalk. Still, with Krzyzewski and Auriemma in charge, there is reason for confidence.
