Try hockey for free
Kids across the country can try hockey for free on Saturday, November 7

Kids across the country can try hockey for free on Saturday, November 7 as part of USA Hockey's Try Hockey For Free Event.

In Hillsborough, The Orange County Sportsplex will host a free clinic from 1 p.m.-2 p.m.

In Raleigh, the Raleigh Center Ice will host a clinic at 11 a.m. and Raleigh Iceplex at 2pm.

For Sportsplex Hockey Director Ken DiOrio it's a fun day to introduce kids to a sport he's been playing since he was 2.

"If you've never stepped on the ice, that's completely fine," DiOrio said. "We do have ice walkers that will help aid on transitioning to get your ice legs. We'll all be there we kind of encourage you to fall down because if you do, you get back up and dust yourself off and it's fine."

Equipment will be provided including ice skates, jerseys, sticks, and pucks. But, organizers ask anyone attending to bring a bike helmet or other head protection, winter gloves, and to dress warmly.
