Watch: Live announcements on ESPNU Signing Day Special

Thursday is the start of the early signing period for high school basketball stars. A trio of top-20 recruits -- Gary Trent Jr., Collin Sexton and P.J. Washington -- will announce their college decisions live on ESPNU's Signing Day Special (6 p.m. ET). Trent, a 6-foot-5 guard from Apple Valley, Minnesota, is ESPN's No. 8 overall recruit and the namesake of former NBA forward Gary Trent. He has offers from Duke, Arizona, Kentucky, Michigan State and UCLA.

Sexton is a native of Mableton, Georgia, and the 6-3 guard is choosing between Alabama, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kansas, NC State and Oklahoma State. Kansas and Alabama are considered the favorites.

Washington, a 6-8 forward from Frisco, Texas, is ESPN's No. 16 overall recruit. He plays for Findlay Prep in Las Vegas. Washington is choosing between UCLA, Kentucky, Arizona, NC State, Kansas, UNLV, Texas and North Carolina.

In all, six ESPN 100 recruits have plans to announce or have announced where they will sign today. No. 12 overall recruit Nick Richards, a 6-11 center from Queens, New York, committed to Kentucky over Syracuse and Arizona on Thursday afternoon. Small forward Rayshaun Hammondsof Norcross, Georgia, the No. 38 overall prospect, announced he'll play for Georgia over Memphis, Alabama and others.

Lastly, 6-5 shooting guard John Pettyof Huntsville, Alabama, the No. 25 overall recruit, is reportedly set to announce his college choice at halftime of his game at J.O. Johnson High School this evening. The game begins at 7 p.m. ET. Petty is choosing between Kentucky and Alabama.
