Suspect, victim identified in Cumberland County homicide

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, North Carolina (WTVD) -- A man was killed Tuesday night in a Cumberland County shooting.

The sheriff's office said one man was fatally shot and another taken into custody. The incident happened in the 3300 block of Nash Road near the intersection of Butler Nursery Road.

On Wednesday, the sheriff's office identified the victim as 40-year-old Jason Ray Tyner of Fayetteville.

Garrett Jordan Vann, 32, of Wade, NC, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder and shooting into an occupied vehicle.

Vann's first appearance was Wednesday at the Cumberland County Detention Center. Vann is being held without bond.

Nearly a dozen deputies responded to the scene and investigators continued to work late into the night gathering evidence.

One person is dead and another in custody.
