SUV flips on Interstate 85

DURHAM (WTVD) -- A severe accident involving an SUV left several people injured and closed an exit on I-85 on Sunday afternoon.

Officials said a black GMC Envoy flipped several times onto the I-85 southbound on-ramp at Hillandale Road.

Our crew on the scene said the SUV sustained major damage. There were at least seven people in the car at the time of the accident, according to our crew.

Several people were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Highway Patrol is still investigating what caused the SUV to flip.

The exit has since reopened.

No charges have been filed.
