RALEIGH (WTVD) -- Local leaders want to make the Triangle one of the top five areas nationally for entrepreneurship and innovation. To help do that, they are holding the Fourth Annual Innovation Summit in Raleigh Thursday.

The Innovate Raleigh Summit brings innovators and business leaders together to celebrate success and brainstorm what still needs to happen locally.

This year, the focus is on diversity. So all the new businesses starting in our area reflect all the different faces and backgrounds that live here.

Since the first summit, Raleigh has hired its first innovation and entrepreneurship manager, opened a start-up incubator and shared workspace shop called HQ Raleigh, and American Underground, another shared workspace spot has expanded.

United Airlines even started a non-stop flight to San Francisco that helps connect investors to companies here in the Triangle.

Thursday's summit is from 1:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in downtown Raleigh. For more about the Innovate Raleigh Summit visit http://www.innovateraleigh.com/summit/
