Man charged with stabbing Raleigh 16-year-old to death

RALEIGH (WTVD) -- A 16-year-old died at WakeMed Friday night after a stabbing in downtown Raleigh.

It happened just after 11 p.m. at the intersection of S. Wilmington and E. Cabarrus streets.

Police identified the boy as Tahje Alexander Mials.

Saturday morning, detectives announced they have charged 20-year-old Jerome Lee Gardner with murder.

While not releasing more information, police said the killing was not a random act.
