Emotional night as soldiers deploy for Iraq
Family members say farewell to Fort Bragg troops headed to the Middle East just before Thanksgiving.

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (WTVD) -- A little more than 50 troops left Fort Bragg on Tuesday night, destined for the Middle East.

For some and their families, it is their first deployment, so the timing, right before Thanksgiving, isn't so great.

But duty calls, and the unit will spend nine months helping make sure everything from the mail to personnel and equipment and supplies run smoothly in Iraq.

It was an emotional sendoff.

Watch the video above for more of the sendoff.
