Luxurious limo rides- for your pet
CHICAGO, Ill. -- Sometimes Fluffy and Fido need a lift. Whether it is to the vet or groomers or anywhere in between, The Pet Chauffeurs will get them there in style.
"I was a policeman for seven years. Then I had a landscape company for 18 years. Then I had a health club for 15 years. And now, shuffling pets and people," Dick Glass said.
Glass, of Grayslake, started The Pet Chauffeurs. Dr. Scott Kale and his wife, Joan, needed to get their dogs, Theo and Alfie, to the vet. Their excitable dogs don't like to ride in cars.
"This way I can hold him and be with him and travel in style and comfort," Joan Kale said.
"For one thing, cabs won't take us. And for another thing, this much more luxurious and comfortable," Dr. Kale said.
And it should be a luxurious ride in a $200,000 Mercedes ultra van outfitted for pets. The vehicle even has heated floors for cold paws.
"I will take people. I will take pups. I will take both people and pups," Glass said.
He'll take cats, too.
Normal rides are local runs, but Glass said he's had some doggone wild requests.
"I had a couple of conversations this weekend with pet owners wanting to transport them to New York and also to Florida," Glass said. "I said yes."
The Pet Chauffeurs cost $60 an hour or $500 a day.
