Pedestrian struck in Fayetteville dies
A man who was struck by an SUV earlier Tuesday has died from his injuries.

FAYETTEVILLE, North Carolina (WTVD) -- A man has died hours after he was struck by an SUV on Martin Luther King Jr. Freeway toward Ramsey Street on Tuesday.

Northbound lanes of MLK Jr. Freeway were closed at the Bragg Boulevard exit while police investigated what they called a "critical injury" traffic crash.

It happened shortly after 2:30 p.m. The freeway reopened at 4:14 p.m., police said.

The pedestrian was identified as Jonathan S. Sloan, 40. He was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as Adrianna E. Galloway, 23, of Fayetteville. Galloway was driving a 2004 Ford Explorer.

No charges have been filed but the incident remains under investigation.
