WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WTVD) -- Every year the Wake Forest Police Department holds a turkey drive to collect frozen turkeys and donations to purchase more turkeys to give out for the holiday.

On Saturday, they held their 9th annual event which broke all the records for previous years.

The police department said they collected 182 turkeys and over $1,500 in donations.

They hope to hand out over 800 turkeys on Monday in Wake Forest. They thank the public for their generosity to help those in need.
