RALEIGH (WTVD) -- North Carolina is home to seven major military installations, and 11% of the U.S. military active duty forces call the state home.
Since 1941 the USO of North Carolina has served the military in the state. The USO of NC operates five centers, including ones at Raleigh-Durham International Airport and Fort Bragg. The centers serve an average of 650,000 troops a year.
On September 24, the USO along with The Journey Principles Institute will present Light Up The Darkness at the Clayton Center.
Light Up The Darkness is an inspirational event that will help people acknowledge their hurt, bring awareness to their hope, and help them take valuable steps in overcoming their struggles through knowledge and music! Organizers hope to get veterans in the area involved with the event.
Featured performers for this event include singer-songwriter Michael Tolcher of A&M Octone Records Artists and Universal Music Group; Chris Hannibal, founder and CEO of Unique Inspirational Theater; singer-songwriter Chris Hendricks, co-founder of Perfectly Afflicted; and comedian Les Long.
