Thanksgiving weather forecast: Cooler but dry

Staying in town for Thanksgiving? Central North Carolina will see cooler weather, but it will be dry.

A cold front moved into the state on Wednesday morning and brought with it some light rain.

The rest of the day Wednesday will be breezy but no heavy rainfall is expected.

Breezy conditions continue into Thanksgiving Day and temperatures will drop.

Still, highs will be near 59 degrees.

In other parts of the country, Northern California and southern Oregon residents are dealing with a "bomb cyclone" weather phenomenon.

A storm packing heavy, blinding snow and fierce winds whipped through Colorado, Wyoming and Nebraska earlier this week and is now marching into the upper Midwest as anxious Thanksgiving travelers hit the road.

That wintry storm that left at least one person dead was expected to push eastward into South Dakota, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
