FUNNEL CLOUD FORMS
It was a close call for residents of Carmen, Oklahoma this weekend when a funnel cloud dropped out of a storm.
There were multiple reports of funnel clouds and rotation in the area, but thankfully no reports of any tornadoes touching down.
COOKING FIRE SPARKS WILDFIRE
Officials in Riverside, California are blaming an unattended cooking fire for a fast-spreading wildfire that continues to burn.
Nearby residents were evacuated, but there have not been reports of damage to structures.
EARTHQUAKE RATTLES TAIWAN
A strong undersea earthquake struck between Taiwan and southern Japan on Monday, sparking a house fire that killed a person outside of Taiwan's capital and causing Japanese authorities to evacuate some schoolchildren as a tsunami precaution.
The quake triggered an advisory for a tsunami of up to 3 feet in Japan that was lifted after just over an hour. It caused buildings in the Taiwanese capital of Taipei to sway, and people there rushed into the streets.
NC COAST GUARD RESCUE
The Coast Guard rescued two people off the North Carolina coast on Saturday.
The two people were found clinging to a boat when rescuers arrived in a helicopter.
Officials said the boat flipped in the Albemarle Sound near Hertford around 7:30 p.m.
The Coast Guard released a video of the rescue on Sunday.
Both survivors are doing okay.
