National Weather Service: Tornado confirmed in Columbus County

COLUMBUS COUNTY, N.C. (WTVD) -- The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Columbus County.

It happened around 4:15 p.m. Thursday as severe storms moved through.

At least one home was damaged and tree limbs and power lines were downed throughout the area.

At one point, about 1,000 customers in the eastern part of Columbus County were without power.
