First Alert Morning Forecast: April 24
More sunshine and nice temperatures.

RALEIGH, N.C. (WTVD) -- First Alert: Outside of a few showers today, we're in for an extended dry stretch and a weekend warm up.

Good morning! It's a seasonably cool start with temps in the upper 40s to mid 50s. highs will be in the low to mid 70s. Clouds have started to move into the area ahead of a cold front currently still well to the north and west. This front will approach the area from the west today and will result in light showers/sprinkles at times from mid-AM to late afternoon. Moisture will be lacking with this front, and we do not expect any more than 0.10" across the area.

Dry weather returns this evening behind the front. Lows will be in the upper 40s to mid 50s.

The bulk of the cold air behind this front will stay mainly across the Northeast, and highs Thursday will be in the low 70s under mostly sunny skies.

The nice weather continues into Friday, with temperatures hovering around the low to middle 70s.

We start to see a warming trend going into this weekend, as a potent system travels across the center of the country, allowing for more south-southeasterly flow locally. High pressure will settle off the east coast. The chance for a shower on Saturday is looking less impressive this morning, but clouds will increase with a very weak front passes through the region.

Looking into the long range, the dry and warm weather looks to continue into at least Monday, with the next chance of showers and perhaps thunderstorms coming Tuesday or Wednesday.

Have a good day!
