Wintry mix coming down in parts of central NC
A wintry mix of sleet, freezing rain, and even some snow is falling on parts of central North Carolina Sunday.

Parts of central North Carolina could see snow flurries in the next couple of days.
A powerful area of low pressure will continue to strengthen off the coast of North Carolina Sunday. This feature, however, will continue to pull northeastward away from the Triangle region with the bulk of the precipitation falling southeast of Raleigh. Heavy rain and strong winds will hit the coast, with rain possibly mixing with and changing to snow on the far northwestern fringe of the precipitation shield.
Dry conditions are expected for Sunday night, before a potent trough brings the threat for precipitation to the region Monday. While temperatures will initially be warm enough for this precipitation to be in the form of rain, colder air filtering into the region will allow the rain to mix with and change to snow in spots by Monday night, though little to no accumulations are expected.
There may be a slight chance for a rain or snow shower on Tuesday, with dry and cold conditions expected through the remainder of the week.
