Durham police arrest 4 in armed robbery of cell phone store

DURHAM, North Carolina (WTVD) -- Durham police said Thursday that they arrested four men and charged them with robbing a mobile phone store at gunpoint Wednesday evening.

The suspects were arrested Wednesday night, shortly after the robbery at the Boost Mobile store at 4201 University Drive about 6:30 p.m.

Police said three men wearing hoodies entered Boost Mobile and demanded money. At least one man was armed with a gun.

A short time later, officers spotted a possible suspect vehicle on Hillsborough Road and stopped it near Hillandale Road. Officers recovered property stolen during the robbery and a gun from the vehicle.

Officers arrested the four occupants of the vehicle - 19-year-old Jayrell Kersey, 17-year-old Timothy Chavis, 17-year-old Elijah Reed and 22-year-old Brandon Holloway, all of Durham.

They were all charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a stolen firearm. All four were placed in the Durham County Jail under $250,000 bonds.
