Juvenile, 2 adults in custody in connection to shooting that seriously injured man in Chapel Hill

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WTVD) -- Chapel Hill police officers are investigating a shooting that sent a man to the hospital with a serious injury on Monday, December 11.

It happened around 9:15 p.m. in the 100 block of Formosa Lane at the Greenfield Place apartments. The person who was injured has been identified as 29-year-old Ronald Moore.

Saturday, December 23, Chapel Hill police said they have three people in custody in connection to the shooting and one of them is a juvenile.

Dominic James Low, 23, of Raleigh, and Dashawn Tyree Hammond, 20, of Durham, are both facing numerous charges. Low's charges include attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, robbery with a dangerous weapon, malicious assault in secret, discharge of a weapon into occupied property, larceny from the person and discharge of a firearm in the city limits.

Police said Low was located in Illinois and North Carolina authorities are working to extradite him back to Chapel Hill.

Hammond's charges include attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, robbery with a dangerous weapon, malicious assault in secret, breaking or entering a motor vehicle, assault by pointing a gun and discharging a firearm in the city limits.



Hammond is currently at the Durham County Detention Center with no bond.

Investigators are not able to release details on the juvenile.

Police said Moore was treated at UNC Hospitals.
