Demonstrators gathered in downtown Durham around 3 p.m. to march aiming to spread the message that every vote should be counted.
The gathering started at CCB Plaza with demonstrators marching to the board of elections.

The march ended around 5:30 p.m.
Demonstrators included faith leaders including Rabbi Salem Pearce of Carolina Jews for Justice.
"We want to honor the work that our communities did and the people who voted and just make sure every vote is counted," said Rabbi Pearce. "We're going to talk about why we invest and be together here in trying to ensure a strong, robust democracy."
Durham Mayor Pro Tem Jillian Johnson weighed in on the downtown march, saying the country is at a crossroads.
"I think it's important people get out into the streets right now and demand that this election be legitimate and we count every single vote," said Johnson. "I think it's so important that the community, the public be out in the streets really demanding democracy is respected, every vote is counted."
